New Jersey Disc Golf Course Guide

Technical woods, elevation and well-traveled park courses from Morris County to central New Jersey.

Why this region belongs on your course map

New Jersey disc golf can change quickly from tight, hilly woods to more open parkland. Greystone Woods is a demanding technical option in Morris Plains, while Thompson Park in Monroe Township blends park-style holes with a more secluded, elevated back nine. The Grove at Thompson Grove Park adds another central New Jersey stop for players building a regional day trip.

What the golf asks from your game

The common thread is placement. Hills and wooded landing zones reward discs that hold the chosen angle without excessive ground play. A stable midrange, neutral fairway and overstable approach disc cover many of the shots these courses ask for, while a grippy putter helps when footing or weather is less than ideal.

Plan the round before you drive

Public parks may have restricted hours, shared-use areas, tournaments or temporary closures. Review the latest course notes and navigation before your round. On wooded courses, download or open the current map before entering areas with weaker cell service, and give other park users the right of way.

BUILD FOR THE COURSE

What to bring in the bag

Bring one disc for straight tunnels, one that turns without burning over and one dependable finisher. Players still developing distance can score well with mids and fairways; faster drivers become more useful when the course opens up or wind picks up.
